USB Flash Drive is a removable flash memory storage device that is attached to the computer via USB. They come in many sizes and are potable and hence you can carry them in a wallet, wear them as accessory or carry them in a key chain. They come in many sizes from 1 GB to 256 GB. They are removable and rewritable. Their size and price per capacity is improving steadily. The 256 GB drive came into being in 2009 and it has the capacity to hold more data than a DVD or a Blue ray disc. They however have a high price per unit of storage compared to other portable devices. They are not affected by dust, scratches or impact. Blue ray disc is the name of the next –generation optical disc format. It is developed in such a way that it allows recording, rewriting and playback of HD video and also storing large amounts of data. they have a storage capacity of 25GB for a single layer and 50GB dual layer.thet are mire expensive because they hold more data. The blue ray disc player is also expensive. it comes in 3 formats i.e. BD-ROM for read only discs, BD-R for write once discs and BD-RE for rewritable discs.

HD-DVD is a digital optical media format for high definition DVDs with a storage capacity of 15GB per single and 30GB for double layer. It has a backward compatibility and also comes in 3 formats for read only, write once and rewritable discs. Both HD-DVD and BD are used for storage of data, audio, photo and Video storage. HD is better than the common DVD because due to the High definition, it has higher resolution, enhanced menu navigation, increased capacity for bonus features and new interactive capabilities. BD and HD DVD have 3-5 times more capacity than the standard DVD. Their transfer rate is 3 times more than that of the DVDs. For me I would purchase a blue ray disc to store my movies and a flash drive for my data. This is because a blue ray has a high resolution and hence a better picture. I would buy a flash drive for my data because it is not affected by scratches and dust. I would recommend a blue ray disc to movie makers like 20th Century Fox and others and a flash drive for students.

Thinking outside the box.

There was this one time when I was a student at the university and life was becoming so hard because of the high cost of living. I was barely surviving.  My parents had become sick of my asking money every time and since they were not rich, they told me I had to sort myself out. I was also ashamed of asking and borrowing money from friends and relatives. That is when I decided to think outside the box and sort myself out. Being a food scientist, I started making yoghurt and selling (hawking) around campus from room to room. I obtained milk from the campus neighbors and then used it to make yoghurt at small scale. The Chairman of my department was so glad with my efforts that he volunteered to buy a fermentation batch and together with other students of the department, we started producing yoghurt at large scale. I never borrowed money again for the rest of my stay at the campus.

When a company redefined its industry.

East African Breweries Limited is a major producer of beer in the East African region. It used to employ a lot of workforce both permanent and casuals to facilitate the beer production. The malt from the supplies used to be carried by casuals on their backs to the processing lines. The only technology that was there was the conveyor belt. Today though, the company has diversified its production and increased its revenue due to installation of high-tech technology. This has unfortunately led to loss of jobs for thousands of workers. Even though, it has become one of the most profitable companies in the region.

Ford Company

That was a good move because the world is moving towards efficient, environment friendly. This will be a good move by the ford company in that when the world market moves completely to fuel efficient vehicles, Ford will be there to supply the demand. It is also a good move as this will reduce fuel economy. The American and the world market at large want fuel efficient cars. I believe that the resources are finite and global warming is a threat to the whole world hence a move to go ‘green’ and produce environmentally friendly cars is most welcome.

Circuit city

The troubles at Circuit City started when they decided to fire 3,400 of their most experienced employees. Many people liked the stores and were saddened when it finally declared it was closing down. The shoppers were treated well but what killed it was the incompetent and mismanagement of the top officials. The decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy was coming and all I see in that is that the greedy and incompetent managers wanted Circuit City to close down its stores so that they may benefit from that. I can say that it was a well planned decision that took its first step when the management fired the competent workers.
